Por ejemplo, en Santiago, la Alcaldía a través de la Dirección de Medio Ambiente iniciará una jornada de limpieza para movilizar cientos de chatarras abandonadas en las calles. Otros municipios también se sumaron a esta iniciativa para eliminar carros chatarra que afectan la salud y el aspecto visual de las comunidades.

In response to the growing issue of accumulation of unusable vehicles in the Cibao region, local governments have joined forces to start a program to rid public spaces of scrap metal. The initiative aims to mobilize scrap metal in order to bring peace and greenery back to the most affected neighborhoods.
For instance, in Santiago, the City Hall, through the Department of Environment, will kick off a cleaning campaign to remove hundreds of abandoned scrap cars from the streets.
