MINISTRY OF TOURISM
GOVERNMENT ESTIMATES CRUISE TOURISM WILL GROW BETWEEN 7% AND 9% THIS YEAR

The Government projected that cruise tourism will grow between 7% and 9% this year, driven by the operation of different tourist ports and the arrival of hundreds of thousands of cruisers visiting the Dominican Republic.

During the signing ceremony of a new strategic agreement between the Dominican Government and the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), President Luis Abinader stated that cruise tourism is at its peak and will only get better in the coming years. The agreement aims to attract more investment and increase the number of cruisers visiting the country.

President Abinader announced the construction and expansion of new ports in various parts of the national territory, emphasizing that the arrival of cruisers has doubled and become an important pillar for the national economy.

The Government has finished the construction of Taino Bay port in Puerto Plata and Cabo Rojo port in Pedernales, while ports in Samaná, Arroyo Barril, and Barahona are currently under construction. Two new ports are also being planned, including one in Manzanillo, to complement the industrial and logistical development ongoing there.

GOVERNMENT SEEKS GREATER INVESTMENT
The strategic agreement between the Dominican Republic and the FCCA aims to position the country as one of the five strategic presidential partners of the FCCA in the region, focusing on developing services, products, local supply opportunities, new itineraries, and job creation within the cruise industry.

This alliance strengthens the commitment to elevate the quality, competitiveness, and investment in the tourism sector, establishing the Dominican Republic as a regional leader in the cruise industry. The agreement will be in effect until December 31, 2026, and extends for a 17-month period, witnessing the signing at a hotel in the National District.
